Stetson and Courtney met at a branding and before long they were dating. Courtney asked me to shooting their wedding a last month and so while I was home I traveled back to my Aunt and Uncle’s ranch to do an engagement session for the two of them. Stetson and I grew up more like brother and sister than cousins- I’m just shy of being 3 months older than he is and for most of our lives we’ve been very close. In all the years I’ve known him I’ve never seen a larger grin on his face than when he looks at Courtney. You can see how Courtney admires Stetson but keeps him on his toes and doesn’t give up easily (as you’ll see they are both extremely competitive).
I don’t typically have anyone along with me when I shoot an engagement session- it’s just me and the couple but because we wanted to use a horse we had a little extra help. Kari’s a good friend of Stetson and Courtney but we were also neighbors when I was young and she’s been interested in photography for sometime so she’d asked if she could come along… and Stetson and Courtney didn’t mind so we had Kari there as well. Phew- they had an audience but didn’t seem to mind and we all had a great time!
I’ve shared some of my favorites but be sure to watch the slideshow at the end to see more. :-D

I just can’t take this picture living in Atlanta- but I do love it! Can you spot her ring?

Love this!

Football is big in the south- but there are some pretty hard core fans out West too and if you live in Nebraska you’ll stand behind your team until the end. Courtney recently graduated from UNL and Stetson has always been a HUGE football fan.. so it was only appropriate they show their pride and represent.

I like this too-

So I had my fingers crossed and had prayed for two things while I was out West. 1. A big thunderstorm with lots of lightning. 2. A beautiful sunset (both things I miss living in the south surrounded by trees and city lights)
I couldn’t have asked for a better and more amazing sunset than this:

I believe her form is better… set… set… hike!

She secured her win by giving him a shove away from the finish line right at the very last second!

Kari and her husband Nate. :)
