My Gear Bag

Here’s the answer to the most famous questions I get asked… What’s in your bag?

Here’s the Gear I couldn’t live without!

My Cameras:

Nikon D700 (Love)
Backup Camera: Nikon D90 (used to take these pictures)

Nikon Professional Lenses

24mm 2.8
50mm 1.4
50mm 1.8
85mm 1.8 *Soon to be the 1.4*
105mm Macro
70-200mm 2.8
Carl Ziess 25mm 2.8

These low aperture lenses (or “fast glass”) allow me to shoot in very low light conditions without a flash when coupled with the fabulous sensors of the D700. Dusk? No problem! A dark church- Easy as Pie! Not only do they help bring out the light when there isn’t much to see but they create the beautiful “blurry backgrounds” you see in so many of my pictures. Creamy goodness…

The Prime lenses also keep the images super sharp and crisp- just the way I like them.

Brooke Butler - I love that you posted your gear. I often check out photographers blogs and find myself curious as to whether or not they shoot with Canon, Nikon, etc. and what lenses they use. I say to myself, “Hm, this looks like it has a really low aperture… I wonder if it’s my lens. And if it isn’t, I wonder how I can get one like it.” Thanks for sharing. I am partial to my Canon but I’d probably love Nikon if I had one. :)
